Match Pack: Preston v Wednesday

29 December 2023

Preston v Wednesday
Friday 29 December
7:45pm
Championship
Deepdale

THE MATCH

The Owls are back on the road at Preston on Friday night as the hectic Christmas calendar continues.

Following back-to-back reverses that did not reflect performances against Cardiff and Coventry, Wednesday are out to get the survival bid back on track.

Standing in the way are a Lilywhites team buoyed by victory over promotion hopefuls Leeds on Boxing Day.

Preston beat the 10-man Whites by the odd goal in three to arrest a run of form that spawned one win in seven games.

Ryan Lowe’s team set the early pace in the Championship but despite slipping since are just one point outside the play-off pack.

TEAM NEWS

Wednesday: Bambo Diaby serves the first of a three-match suspension following the red card the Owls centre-back received at Coventry.

The Owls will also be missing Callum Paterson, who was forced out of the action at the CBS Arena.

Preston: There are no fresh injury or suspension concerns for Lowe.

Long-term absentee Emil Riis remains sidelined, with the striker’s return pencilled in for the early throes of 2024.
