Attention turns to Highbury cup replay

6 February 2023

The Owls will turn their attention back to the Emirates FA Cup on Tuesday evening.

After drawing 1-1 at Hillsborough late last month, Wednesday will face Fleetwood in the fourth round replay at Highbury Stadium.

It will be our fourth meeting in six weeks with the Cod Army this season.

Wednesday have already completed the league double with a 2-1 win at Highbury on Boxing Day before sealing a 1-0 victory at Hillsborough one month later.

Despite dominating possession in the S6 cup-tie, the Owls went a goal down in the second period when Promise Omochere nodded home seven minutes after the restart.

The Owls fought back and levelled 19 minutes from time as Mallik Wilks pounced on Marvin Johnson’s centre, though Fleetwood defender Josh Earl was adjudged to have the final touch.

In the event of a draw after 90 minutes on Tuesday, the tie will go to extra time and then penalties if required.

We’ll be backed by 1,115 Wednesdayites in the sold out away end on the night and supporters are advised the fixture is all-ticket.
