Moore reviews FA Cup defeat

7 February 2023

Darren Moore was disappointed to see the Owls knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup following our 1-0 defeat to Fleetwood at Highbury Stadium.

A second half header from Carlos Mendes Gomes saw the hosts into round five of the competition, with the Owls manager rueing the set piece winner.

But there were positives to take from the west coast clash, as academy regulars Sean Fusire and Adam Alimi-Adetoro made their professional debuts for Wednesday.

Moore said: “It’s really disappointing to lose it in that manner, with the goal coming from a set piece, which just comes down to concentration which wasn’t there.

“To lose it like that in the end was really disappointing but we’ve only got ourselves to blame.

“All the 10 changes, we work every single day in training and they know what is expected. It looked like we had to grow into the game.

“The positives I take from the game are the two young lads making their debuts out of the academy, which is really good.

“I think they can be really pleased with their performances in what was a difficult game.”
