THE MATCH

Wednesday welcome Newcastle to S6 for the first time since April 2017 – with both sides in excellent nick ahead of the cup clash.

The Owls broke into the top two of League One last time out with a comprehensive home win over Cambridge, while the Magpies cemented their top-four Premier League slot following a goalless draw at leaders Arsenal.

Eddie Howe’s outfit have lost only one game all season in all competitions, while Wednesday’s three defeats is the joint-best record in League One.

Both teams are on extended runs of resistance, the Owls are 13 unbeaten and Newcastle 15.

TEAM NEWS

Wednesday: Darren Moore has confirmed that skipper Barry Bannan will miss out as he continues to nurse a muscle strain.

The game will also come too soon for Lee Gregory (back), whose involvement in the Boxing Day victory at Fleetwood was cut short.

Recent absentees Dominic Iorfa (ankle) and Tyreeq Bakinson (illness) have trained this week and will return to the squad.

Newcastle: Eddie Howe is expected to shuffle his pack for the cup clash. The Magpies head to Hillsborough having travelled to the capital in midweek and they face Leicester at St James’ Park on Tuesday.

Howe said: “It's going to be down to me to try to get the balance right of how we prepare for this game and what team we pick. We want to win the game and want to go through.”

Record signing Alekander Isak may feature as he makes his way back to fitness from a hamstring injury.

The Swedish striker scored twice in his first three Premier League appearances but has not featured for Newcastle since September.

FOURTH ROUND DRAW

The draw for the fourth round takes place on Sunday at 4:05pm, live on BBC1.

Should we be in the hat, the Owls are ball number 29.

Further, if Wednesday or Barnsley progress to round four, the League One fixture at Oakwell set for Sunday 29 January will be postponed.

The Tykes travel to Derby in the third round on Sunday.

MATCHDAY PROGRAMME

As the football world continues to mourn the passing of Pele, the Owls have dedicated the front cover of Saturday’s programme to the Brazilian legend.

Pele twice graced the Hillsborough turf for Santos, in 1962 and 1972, the latter of which is featured this weekend.

Priced £3, your special edition of ‘Wednesday’ is available around the stadium.

BOOK OF CONDOLENCE

We were devastated to lose one of our own over the holiday period when long-serving member of staff Elaine Murphy sadly passed away.

There is a book of condolence in main reception for anyone who wishes to pay their respects before the game to the lady known simply as ‘Mrs Sheffield Wednesday’.

FAN ZONE

The Owls’ Fan Zone is open from 2:00pm until kick-off but will not reopen after the game.

LIGHT SHOW

The new floodlight installation at Hillsborough allows for a stunning light show ahead of kick-off, which will be in operation on Saturday.

* Due to the speed and frequency of the light intermittence, we strongly advise anyone with a photosensitive disorder to show caution before entering the stadium.
