Savour the moment and move on!

7 January 2023

Darren Moore hailed the Owls on and off the pitch as they progressed to round four of the Emirates FA Cup on a memorable night in S6.

Premier League Newcastle were beaten by the odd goal in three under the Hillsborough lights, with a Josh Windass brace doing the damage.

And Moore said his players must saviour the moment and then move swiftly on:

“It’s a wonderful night for everyone connected with Sheffield Wednesday. We played with so much energy, the fans had so much energy, it was a superb all-round performance.

“That’s what I called for and that’s what I got and it was excellent to see. The boys thoroughly deserved it and I’m so pleased for the fans.

“Josh will get the headlines and rightly so as a striker but that was a proper team performance.

“There’s no better place than down here at S6 with an atmosphere like that. I wanted a Premier League team at home, I got that, so for the next round, what will be will be!

“So now we have to move on, we get back in and we get back to work on the training ground, it’s the only way to be.

“We have a big game at Wycombe on Saturday and next we prepare for that.

“Tonight has been a night to remember, but we move on and get back to work.”
