Sheffield Fans Derby breaking records!

25 January 2023

A record-breaking £10,042.37 has been raised for Sheffield Hospitals’ Charity Neonatal Intensive Care Unit through the annual Sheffield Fans Derby event between Wednesday and United fans.

This brings the total raised from all SFD events to a giant £73,522.04 since the start back in 2008.

The overall victory tally now stands at eight wins each as the Blades ‘edged’ the latest contest 5-0 at Staveley WMFC!

Iain Atkins, SFD co-organiser, said: “I cannot put into words how thankful I am to everyone who got involved in #SFD17 and came together to help us raise this amazing record-breaking amount for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

“When we started the event back in 2008 I could not have imagined that we would be raising these increasing amounts and be at over £73,000 overall.

“It really does continue to push us on to make these events bigger each year and set ourselves higher and higher targets. I just want to say thank you to everyone who gets involved in the events from the players, sponsors, spectators, venues and of course the football clubs.”

Sheffield Fans Derby 18 launches exclusively on BBC Radio Sheffield with Howard Pressman in the coming weeks.

Ian added: “We hope to have as many fans supporting the next event as possible!”
