Chilean international Juan Delgado has joined Wednesday from Portuguese side Paços de Ferreira.
The South American is reunited with new Owls manager Xisco after the two forged ties at Spanish club Gimnàstic de Tarragona. Xisco managed Gimnàstic when Delgado was on the books in 2016.
Primarily a right-back, Delgado can also operate further up the field in a wing-back role.
The 30-year-old began his career with Chilean giants Colo Colo, whom he helped to the 2014 league title, before going on to represent Gimnàstic, CD Tondela in Portugal on loan, Mexican side Necaxa and Paços de Ferreira.
He broke into the Chile international set-up during the early part of his career at Under-20 level and has since earned 13 caps for the senior team.
After making his debut against Mexico in 2014, Delgado notched his first international goal facing Haiti three days later.
He featured in all three of Chile’s friendly encounters this summer, against Cuba, Dominican Republic and Bolivia.
With over 300 domestic appearances to his name, Delgado brings significant experience to Xisco’s backline ahead of our upcoming Championship campaign.
