Reece James says the defeat at Forest Green Rovers on Sunday was a tough one to take.
The defender spoke post-match in Gloucestershire following the Owls’ below par performance and underlined the importance of a reaction on Wednesday night.
Darren Moore’s squad head to the same part of the country in midweek for the clash with Cheltenham and James is confident the group can put the disappointment of last week to one side.
“It’s tough to take and disappointing,” the on-loan defender said.
“It’s something we’ve got to work on, get back on the training ground and put our focus on the game against Cheltenham now.
“We’ve got to be a lot better and take ownership of that as players. We’ve got to start the game a lot brighter and sometimes just that can have a big impact.
“It’s important we react on Wednesday.”
It’s the first time this season the Owls have slipped to back-to-back defeats.
Sunday’s upset was Wednesday’s fifth loss of the campaign but the 29-year-old says there is plenty of experience in the changing room to shrug off the recent disappointment and get back to winning ways.
He continued: “The way we have to look at it is that all season we have done really well.
“Yes, what’s happened in the last two games has happened.
“But we are an experienced group and we know what we are doing. The performance wasn’t good enough Sunday and we have to put that right on Wednesday.
“We have to put things right and give a good account of ourselves.
“It wasn’t good enough but we have a chance to go again and put things right and crucially, get the points we need to get us back on track.”
