Owls manager Darren Moore has confirmed that Barry Bannan will remain at Hillsborough beyond the current campaign.
The Wednesday skipper’s contract was due to expire at the end of the 2022/23 season.
But Bannan has recently triggered an extension due to the number of appearances made in this campaign.
Delighted with the news which will serve as huge boost to the club during the crucial run-in, the gaffer said:
“Yes, he's hit that point.
"We've not really spoken about it because Baz is a focused individual but that's all in hand.
“Credit to him in terms of the games he's played, level of fitness he's showing and contribution he makes.
“I love how he's adapted his game and his leadership qualities, on and off the pitch.
"It's fantastic and nice to know that somebody of his calibre is staying.
“His relationship with the club has been unique, he is so committed and it's great to know that it's going to continue."
