This puts the fire in us all

Marvin Johnson says the Owls will come out fighting and aim for a positive response on Sunday against Forest Green after defeat at Oakwell on Tuesday night.

Wednesday’s long unbeaten run came to an end in a pulsating clash at in-form Barnsley.

Stunned by conceding two quickfire first half goals, the Owls hit back with a Lee Gregory double to level the score.

Despite chances to go on and win the game, it was Barnsley who claimed maximum points with a 4-2 victory from an end-to-end South Yorkshire derby.

Far from feeling down on our luck, Johnson says the game will serve to ‘put fire in everybody’ as the wideman wants an immediate response on Sunday.

“What we need to do now is put the result behind and start another run,” he told swfc.co.uk. “At the end of the season, we might look back on this defeat as a turning point for us to really kick on.

“This puts fire in everybody now and when the next game comes around we want to hit the ground running.

“We try and win every single game, our aim is to win the league and we are still focused on that.

“We still have games in hand on other teams so that will help and I am sure we can get back to winning ways.”

Johnson feels those sentiments are echoed by the supporters who showed their appreciation to the team at full time on Tuesday.

“With the fans, you could see the way they were applauding us off the pitch because they know that we’ll keep going,” Johnson said.

“They know we give 100% every single game, we can’t win them all, we know that, but we’ll definitely try. We want to give everything for the fans and the club.”
