Full tilt for the play-offs

7 May 2023

Darren Moore saw the curtain fall on the regular season with a 1-0 win over Derby and now focus turns straight to the play-offs.

The Owls will face Peterborough in the end of season double-header, with the first leg at Weston Homes Stadium on Friday.

The gaffer told swfc.co.uk: “I was pleased with the performance today and of course the result which takes us to 96 points.

“We’ve broken all sorts of records this season which is pleasing and we go into the play-offs into good form.

“The atmosphere today we electric, the energy fantastic so all credit to the fans, they have been brilliant.

“Michael Smith scored his 20th goal of the season and that’s great for him. I never had any doubt the penalty was going in.”

On the spot-kick that decided the game, Moore said: “I’d have to look at it again but Curtis has given the referee a decision to make.

“It didn’t look as though he saw Pato coming in behind, he’s tried to get back and there’s a coming together.”

Moore added there were no fresh injury concerns from the Rams clash and said Lee Gregory will be back on the grass next week:

“Lee picked up a facial injury in training but he will be back training next week.

“With Icky and Dennis, we just rested them today and it was great for Josh to get some minutes under the belt.

“We’ve come through the game today unscathed so that was a relief and now we go full tilt into the play-offs.”
