Lee Gregory wins Michael Plumb Award

23 May 2023

Lee Gregory was presented with the inaugural Michael Plumb Award ahead of our outstanding play-off comeback on Thursday evening.

The award is named in memory of long-term supporter Michael Plumb who generously bequeathed a donation to the Owls in his will when he passed.

Michael was a regular traveller on the Inter City Owl, watching Wednesday play up and down the country, and this award is based solely on away performances.

After each trip, supporters on the Inter City Owl will vote for their Man of the Match and the player with the most wins over the season will have their name added to the prestigious trophy.

Voting began towards the end of this season following our visit to Portsmouth on Saturday 11 March, with Gregory winning on three occasions up to our final journey to Shrewsbury.

Wednesdayites Michael and Alanna Turner who are regulars on the Inter City Owl presented Gregory with the trophy.

The forward hit fine form in the final two months of the campaign and has 11 goals to his name ahead of our play-off final at Wembley next week.

Sheffield Wednesday would like to thank Michael’s family, friends and his comrades on the Inter City Owl for their support.

We look forward to making the Michael Plumb Award a staple event in the Wednesday calendar.
