Danny Röhl has taken time to reflect on an important two weeks behind the scenes at Middlewood Road.
Intense training, learning, work on and off the ball, adding to the coaching staff… it’s been a busy few weeks in S6.
Now the Owls manager is prepared for the most hectic part of our 2023/24 campaign as the games come thick and fast over the Christmas period.
Discussing the value of the past two weeks as we prepare for Birmingham away on Saturday, he said: “Everybody is in which is a good sign.
“In the last two weeks we had a time for some players to come back from small injuries. We had a good training week for the group which is what I like.
“We had a lot of big topics to cover in the last two weeks and it was important to have time on the pitch with the players.
“We tried to train with intensity and improve also our load and other physical things and tactical things.
“We spoke about the transition of offensive and defensive, we spoke about the different shapes with the ball and off the ball.
“It was important to have the time, normally in the past the international break is a time to calm down but we have no time for calm down, it has been hard work for the last 14 days.”
The work began immediately following our defeat to Millwall just before the break and since then, Röhl and his coaching staff – including new addition Sal Bibbo – have been hard at it building up the team to head into the festive period.
“It was really important for me,” Röhl said. “Really important for the staff and the players to have this time.
“Now it is about transferring our good trainings to the games and we are ready for Saturday.
“I am always a guy who is positive because I am convinced about the players and squad.
“It’s more about, okay we must believe what we are doing and show the players the solutions and what we can do better.
“You must also show them our development and if you do this then the players also have the belief in the things we are doing.”
