Creating a high-performance culture

24 November 2023

Earlier this week the Owls welcomed experienced goalkeeper coach Sal Bibbo to the club.

Sal arrives at Hillsborough with an impressive background in developing goalkeepers.

The former Arsenal and Brighton coach has added to an already strong group of backroom staff formed by manager Danny Röhl.

Chris Powell, Sascha Lense, Henrik Pedersen, Neil Thompson and Bibbo have overseen an intense training schedule this week to put the team in the best possible shape as the Championship resumes this weekend.

“When you look now to my staff, we have really experienced guys here,” Röhl said.

“I want to create a high-performance culture in this club with my coaches and in the team.

“We need high level coaches and I am very happy with Sal that he is here.

“We have discussed our philosophies and it is important to have a good group around the team.

“Sal has worked with very good goalkeepers and he’s also worked with good managers as well and all this experience he can bring here.”

Explaining the thinking behind assembling this group, he continued: “All of my assistant coaches are a little bit different and this again is important for me that they are not exactly the same type and profile – everybody can bring something different.

“The energy is important in the coaches and if you have a good feeling in them, you can transfer this to the players.”
