Wednesday v Huddersfield
Saturday 7 October
3:00pm

Hillsborough

THE MATCH

There will be a different feel in the air on Saturday as the Owls host Huddersfield in the Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough.

With Xisco departing S6 this week, Under-21s manager Neil Thompson has since taken charge of training and will be in the dugout this weekend.

Wednesday are at the foot of the table after eight defeats from 10 games which ultimately brought an end to Xisco’s stint in the hotseat.

Darren Moore returns to Hillsborough for the first time since his departure from the club in the summer.

The ex-Wednesday boss was appointed by the Terriers last month and has overseen 1-1 draws with Coventry and Ipswich, and a midweek defeat at Birmingham (4-1).

Huddersfield have had a patchy start to the season overall and sit 19th, without a win in four games.

WESTON PARK TAKEOVER DAY

Weston Park Cancer Charity will take over Hillsborough on Saturday.

The special charity day forms part of the wider ‘Together At Every Step’ partnership with the Owls, Barnsley and Sheffield United, which aims to raise awareness and funds for the charity.

The Together At Every Step campaign is now in its third season and this is the charity’s first takeover day since our promotion back to the Championship.

Weston Park will be around the stands with fundraising buckets, and there is also the opportunity to donate by card should you not have any change!

If you are unable to make the match you can still get involved, donate by texting FOOTBALL to 70560 or by visiting the website HERE.

Huddersfield: Jonathan Hogg (calf) is a doubt. The captain picked up the injury in the 1-1 draw at home to Ipswich and missed the trip to Birmingham on Tuesday.

Ex-Owl Tom Lees will return to Hillsborough for the first time since leaving the club in 2021.

The central defender made just under 300 appearances for Wednesday between 2014 and 2021.

LOVE FOOTBALL, PROTECT THE GAME

The EFL, Premier League, FA, FSA, PGMOL, LMA and PFA have come together this season to implement a series of measures to address behaviour across the game.

This includes new policies, procedures, and regulations to eradicate unacceptable conduct on the pitch, on the sidelines and in the stands.

The new measures build on the work launched last season to combat dangerous and illegal fan behaviour, supported by the ‘Love Football. Protect the Game’ football-wide campaign.

We are also reinforcing the importance of all supporters staying within EFL Ground Regulations, which can be found HERE
