THE MATCH

We’re back after the international break with a trip to Watford on Saturday.

It will be Danny Röhl’s first game in the hotseat after his appointment as Owls manager last Friday.

Wednesday posted a point just before the break with a goalless draw at home to Huddersfield under the caretaker charge of Neil Thompson.

Thompson, Steven Haslam, Andy Holdsworth and Nicky Weaver have helped ensure a smooth transition on the training ground to our new era under Röhl and after a positive first week behind the scenes, the first game is now upon us!

The Hornets head into the contest with identical form over the past five games as the Owls with two draws and three defeats.

Valérien Ismaël’s side have struggled for consistency and are 20th in the Championship with two wins from 11 games.

TEAM NEWS

Wednesday: Barry Bannan and Josh Windass are available for selection.

Midfielder Ken Sema (muscle injury) has not featured since early September.

PRESS CONFERENCES

MANAGERS

Danny Röhl said: “We’ve had really good training this week, we trained with high intensity and spoke about our principles and the players were very open-minded for the new things and this is what I like.”

Valerien Ismaël said: “Are we happy with performances? Are the team doing what we expected of them? Should we do something different? Can we improve the team? Can we get players from the transfer market who will improve us and make us better?

“That we will do, but in the meantime we need to work with the players we have here to give them confidence.

“We want them to have the confidence and give them the chance to step up. It’s as simple as that.”

LOVE FOOTBALL, PROTECT THE GAME

The EFL, Premier League, FA, FSA, PGMOL, LMA and PFA have come together this season to implement a series of measures to address behaviour across the game.

This includes new policies, procedures, and regulations to eradicate unacceptable conduct on the pitch, on the sidelines and in the stands.

The new measures build on the work launched last season to combat dangerous and illegal fan behaviour, supported by the ‘Love Football. Protect the Game’ football-wide campaign.
