Back after the break!

11 September 2023

The Owls return to action this week following the first international break of the campaign.

Wednesday went into the break on the back of a determined performance against Leeds at Elland Road last time out.

Xisco’s men posted their first point of the season in the Yorkshire derby and now regroup at Middlewood Road to prepare for Ipswich at home on Saturday.

The boys will train on Monday, minus those who remain on international duty.

Devis Vasquez and Juan Delgado are set to go head-to-head in the early hours of Wednesday morning as Colombia face Chile in the second round of CONMEBOL qualifying.

Delgado came on midway through the second half in Chile’s 3-1 defeat to Uruguay last Friday, while Vasquez was an unused substitute as Colombia overcame Venezuela 1-0.

Di’Shon Bernard also remains away from Hillsborough until later in the week.

Jamaica take on Haiti on Wednesday morning. The young centre back was an unused substitute as his country defeated Honduras 1-0 in the CONCACAF Nations League on Saturday morning.

Elsewhere, new Owls loanee Jeff Hendrick will return from duty with the Republic of Ireland.

Saturday’s clash with the Tractor Boys will be another stern test for the Owls.

Following their promotion from League One, Ipswich have enjoyed a strong start back in the second tier and sit in second spot with four wins from five games.
