Match Pack: Wednesday v Ipswich

15 September 2023

Wednesday v Ipswich Town
Saturday 16 September
3:00pm
Championship
Hillsborough

THE MATCH

The Owls resume battle with last season’s promotion rivals Ipswich this weekend. Both sides, of course, made it to the Championship, Wednesday via the play-offs and Town automatically.

The Tractor Boys arrive in S6 having made an excellent start to the new campaign, with four wins from their first five games.

The only blot on the landscape was a defeat to Leeds by the odd goal in seven in a Portman Road thriller.

TEAM NEWS

Wednesday: Xisco reported no fresh injury concerns in his pre-match media conference. However, the Owls boss did say that Mallik Wilks is likely to remain sidelined as the forward continues on the road to recovery.

Ipswich: Wes Burns is set to miss out after a hamstring injury cut short the winger’s international duty with Wales in midweek. Defender Janoi Donacien remains sidelined with a groin strain.

MINUTE’S SILENCE

The recent earthquake in Morocco has claimed the lives of thousands of people, with numbers continuing to rise.

Both teams will pay their respects on Saturday by wearing black armbands and we ask all fans in attendance to observe a minute’s silence prior to kick-off at Hillsborough.

LOVE FOOTBALL, PROTECT THE GAME

The EFL, Premier League, FA, FSA, PGMOL, LMA and PFA have come together this season to implement a series of measures to address behaviour across the game.

This includes new policies, procedures, and regulations to eradicate unacceptable conduct on the pitch, on the sidelines and in the stands.

The new measures build on the work launched last season to combat dangerous and illegal fan behaviour, supported by the ‘Love Football. Protect the Game’ football-wide campaign.

We are also reinforcing the importance of all supporters staying within EFL Ground Regulations, which can be found HERE
