Bit of energy goes a long way

11 April 2024

Callum Paterson is back on the park and raring to finish the season with a flourish.

After a frustrating period on the sidelines, the popular Scot had made successive appearances from the bench against QPR and Norwich, helping the Owls to post vital points.

Paterson had a major impact in both contests, bringing his trademark all-action game to Loftus Road and Hillsborough.

The forward said: “You can have all the talent in the world but you have to have energy. My parents brought me up to give 100% to the best of my ability and I don’t know any other way.

“It doesn’t matter to me if it’s in training or in games, someone is getting bundled over some way!”

Following the Canaries comeback, the midweek Championship action finished favourably for the Owls but regardless, the focus remains in-house, as Paterson explained:

“A lot is down to experience, I’ve played a lot of games and Norwich could be a really significant point. It was amazing to hear the fans go wild at nights like that.

“We have belief. When we’ve won games, the other teams have also got points and we have used that as a kick to drive us on.

“For once they all went our way in midweek but we are focused on ourselves. We need to prove we are good enough to stay in this league.

“For me personally it’s great to be back. It’s been a long few months for me. I’ve worked hard with the physios and sports science guys, so big thanks to them for helping me get back on the pitch.”
