Now we hunt the next position

21 April 2024

After leaving the Championship drop zone for the first time since August, Danny Röhl says Wednesday are looking up and not down.

A huge win at relegation rivals Blackburn steered the Owls beyond the safety line with two games left to play.

Röhl said: “We are still the hunters. We will now hunt the next position. There is no point looking down, we are looking up the table.

“I am proud of my players and proud of the performance. Today we came here with big pressure and we have come away with a fantastic win.

“The players led the performance. Everyone can be proud because we ran, we blocked, we pressed, we scored the goals.

“These are the minimum demands I ask of my players. Now we have two games to go. It was a big step but not the last one.”

The final word went to Wednesdayites, who turned out in their thousands – 7,321 to be precise – at Ewood Park:

“To have these kind of numbers is incredible. I said after the Middlesbrough game, these fans are Premier League, and today you see why once more.

“They deserve everything. I can only say thank you. But the job is not done yet. We are out of the danger places but the hard work is staying there.

“But thank you to all the fans today who turned an away game into a home game.”
