Wednesday v Bristol City
Saturday 24 February
3:00pm
Championship
Hillsborough
THE MATCH
Wednesday will be looking to extend the recent spell of good form to keep up the pressure on the sides in and around the bottom three.
With two wins from the last three Championship fixtures, the Owls have edged closer to the teams just above the drop zone.
Last weekend’s crucial win over Millwall provided a huge boost for Danny Röhl’s men as the gap to safety was slashed to just four.
With 13 games of the season to go, every point from here on in will be prove vital.
Ten-man Wednesday lost out at Ashton Gate the last time the two sides met.
Rob Dickie’s second half goal was enough to seal the win despite a positive performance from the Owls who were minus Barry Bannan following the skipper’s first half dismissal, which was later overturned on appeal.
The Robins slipped to a 1-0 home defeat last time out against QPR but before that picked up back-to-back wins over Middlesbrough and Southampton.
TEAM NEWS
Wednesday: Dominic Iorfa could provide a timely boost for the Owls with his return to fitness.
The defender has been back in full training this week and Röhl said: “He has done the full training with us the last three days and looks fantastic. Let's take a look but we think he will be available for the weekend.”
This weekend’s fixture will likely come too soon for Josh Windass, though Bailey Cadamarteri could return after recovering from up a minor injury.
Cameron Dawson is back on the training pitches, while Akin Famewo remains a little further away from his return.
Bristol City: Scott Twine (quad) and Mark Sykes (hamstring) could come back into the starting line-up on Saturday.
The duo returned to the matchday squad as substitutes in City’s 1-0 defeat against QPR.
Sam Bell suffered a severe hamstring injury last weekend and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Cam Pring (knee) has returned to full training and could also be involved in S6.
