U18s: Owls 4-1 Coventry

5 February 2024

The Owls Under-18s posted a third win on the bounce in the home clash with Coventry on Saturday.

A 4-1 victory over the Sky Blues saw our academy side extend their winning streak.

Since the youngsters’ FA Youth Cup exit against Reading in early January, the Owls have responded with three consecutive league wins to keep up the pressure at the top of the table.

Wednesday are chasing down Birmingham in top spot, who are six points ahead, though the Owls have two games in hand.

Andy Sharp’s side were dominant at Middlewood Road on Saturday and led 1-0 at half time courtesy of Ari-Jae Shaw’s 41st minute opener.

Second half goals from Bruno Fernandes and a double from Jarvis Thornton, including one from the penalty spot, saw Wednesday ease to victory, despite a late consolation from the visitors.

Wednesday host Sheffield United at Middlewood Road on Saturday.

XI: Phillips, Johnson (Lihe 70), Dawes, Emery, Swales, Rodrigues, Kakay, Hunt, Thornton (Mbaya 70), Shaw (Weston 66), Fernandes (Grainger 66)
