New recruit Iké Ugbo has cited Danny Röhl as the primary reason for joining the Owls in the January transfer window.
The pacey striker has signed a half-season loan deal from parent club Troyes in the French Ligue 2, becoming our second signing of the winter window.
And Ugbo told swfc.co.uk of how he invested immediately into the manager’s philosophy:
“It is clear what the coach has brought to this team, I spoke to him and had a good feeling that he can help me and I can help the team.
“It’s important you have the right feeling when it comes to the coach, I am still learning the game and trying to develop myself and am excited by what he showed me.
“I’m ready to go straight away, I have shown what I can do in this league and the club have seen what I can bring to this team.
“We can all see the direction the team is going in and come the end of the season I don’t see the league position being a problem.
“The boys have showed what they can do against some very good teams in this division and we want to carry that on this weekend.”
Ugbo’s new manager was delighted to bring the Canadian international to Hillsborough.
And Röhl highlighted in detail the traits Wednesdayites can expect to see through the course of Ugbo’s S6 stay.
He said: “Iké is a player who has good ability one against one, he has pace in front, he can press, and I have seen a lot of good things what we can use for our style of football.
“We have trained three months together now as a group and you see the improvements from our players so it is normal to need a little bit of time to adapt.
“We will help him, we will give him time and I am convinced he will help us a lot in the second part of the season.
“I will give him the belief and help him on the tactical side and hopefully we can get him into good situations for him to finish. He has good finishing, he can score, he has good technique and all the things we need.
“This is fantastic and always for me the goal is to make my players better because if we have better players, we have a better team together.”
