Attention turns to the Emirates FA Cup this weekend where Danny Röhl says he wants to maintain our momentum.
After crucial back-to-back wins over Preston and Hull, the Owls have moved to just three points from Championship safety in the table.
It reflects a tremendous run under the manager – now five wins from our last eight games.
There are no points at stake this weekend as Cardiff head to Hillsborough in the third round of the FA Cup.
But Danny wants progression to round four and explained:
“I think the cup is always special. It is a short way to win something and in England it is a very traditional cup.
“In Germany it is the same, sometimes you can have the smaller teams against the big teams which is always interesting.
“I spoke today with my players and for me the game is about keeping the momentum, this is important.
“For sure we will have some players where we think, we will have to look how good it is that they play.
“If there is a risk then it makes no sense that they play.
“For me it is about keeping our momentum and to show again a good performance and try to come into the next round, this is what we want.”
It has been a gruelling schedule for the Owls and one which has taken its toll on the squad with injuries and suspensions picked up along the way.
The manager continued: “We need to find a balance between having the best players on the pitch who are available and look to which players it is more helpful that they have a rest.
“The last weeks were very intense for everybody.
“In the last weeks it wasn’t possible to train but now we have normal weeks which is helpful for us to train and to improve our play.
“It’s important we find a good balance between high intensity training but also sometimes it’s about individual training as maybe some guys need a little bit more recovery and we must control this now.”
