Owls v Watford

THE MATCH

Wednesday round off the month with a home clash against Watford.

The Hornets will provide another stern test for the Owls in S6 as they remain within touching distance of the play-off places.

Unbeaten in four, with one win and three draws, Watford are three points off sixth spot.

The two sides last met back in late November in what was Danny Röhl’s first game in the Wednesday hot seat. The hosts narrowly edged that Vicarage Road contest 1-0.

Wednesday, meanwhile, will be searching for a return to winning ways in the Championship.

Back-to-back defeats against Southampton and Coventry came before our 1-1 draw against the Sky Blues in the Emirates FA Cup.

It will no doubt be a key week for the Owls with Watford on Wednesday and a trip to Huddersfield three days later.

TEAM NEWS

Wednesday: Josh Windass could return to action after missing out in the FA Cup clash with Coventry.

The forward was given additional time to recover from a minor injury.

Meanwhile, George Byers missed out last Friday through illness.

Röhl said: “With Josh we decided to give him a little bit of time. He’s trained individually and it’s about having good load management to bring him into the next game.

“With George he was a little bit ill, that was why he was not in the squad, but all in all they will be available for the next game.”

Pierce Charles impressed on his first senior appearance last week and provides another option in goal alongside James Beadle, while Cameron Dawson is sidelined.

Ashely Fletcher is ineligible to feature against his parent club.
