Moses hat-trick seals 18s victory

22 January 2024

A Devlan Moses hat-trick ensured the Owls returned to winning ways on Saturday at Birmingham.

Following the youngsters’ FA Youth Cup exit to Reading and then a postponed fixture with Barnsley, Wednesday were back in action at the weekend.

The visitors made a fast start at Wast Hills as Moses met a Carlos Rodrigues centre to give Wednesday an early advantage.

Goals from Frank Tattum and Alezandro Da Silva swung the game in favour of the Blues but in a dramatic conclusion to the contest, Moses scored two late goals to complete his treble and seal the win.

Rodrigues lost possession inside the box but the ball landed at the feet of Moses, who caught the keeper out with an audacious early effort from the edge of the area.

Then with three minutes to go, Wednesday completed the comeback.

The Owls probed for an opening in the final third and it was Jarvis Thornton who spotted the run of Moses in the box, and the forward took a touch, swivelled and buried low into the bottom corner.

XI: Phillips, Lihe, Johnson (Dawes 74), Emery, Swales, Rodrigues, Fernandes, Thornton, Mbaya (Hunt 46), Moses, Remy-Dee (Shaw 76)
