Be brave in all situations

14 March 2024

Danny Röhl says a big topic on the training ground this week is the need for bravery in all moments of the game as the Owls face Ipswich on Saturday.

Wednesday head to Portman Road as underdogs as they take on automatic promotion hopefully Ipswich.

Röhl delivered a positive pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon and made his belief in the team very clear.

To get a result against the Tractor Boys, Röhl says it will require bravery all over the pitch.

He explained: “From the Leeds game in some phases we had situations where we were not brave enough.

“I know when you play against a strong side, you try to find a balance but I spoke with my team and said it’s about being brave, being on the front foot. We have to take this to Ipswich.

“We have to be brave, we work well, we have shown what we can do but it is always about doing everything 100%, not just staying in between, and it has been a big topic this week.

“I want to see a team at the weekend that really believe they can take something from there – brave in all situations.”

Ipswich suffered only their fifth defeat of the campaign last time out against Cardiff – no side in the Championship has fewer defeats to their name this season.

“At first, you can say they are a very good team,” Röhl continued.

“They have come up from League One, they have a good run, a good manager and are doing very well and they have a good position.

“They are playing well and I think in a lot of games they have decided them very late and this will be a key point.

“I have a starting 11 in my mind. We played not bad in the first half against Leeds, we were competitive but we have to be ruthless in both boxes.

“Be brave, make bold decisions on the pitch and go forward.

“We need to find a calmness in the game and find a balance between when we have to speed up our game with the ball and when we have to press high and stay in our positions.

“If we do this well, we will have a big opportunity to take something.”
