First international goal for Cadamarteri + international round-up

25 March 2024

Bailey Cadamarteri scored his first international goal on Sunday as the England Under-19s were narrowly edged out 3-2 by USA.

The young lions fought back twice after going behind as Cadamarteri fired home an equaliser from the penalty spot to make it one apiece with 20 minutes gone.

Chelsea youngster Leo Castledine was also on target for the Three Lions but a brace from Borussia Dortmund teenager Cole Campbell and a goal from Marcos Zambrano of Vitória de Guimarães sealed the friendly win at the Complexe Mohammed VI Stadium.

Cadamarteri played 76 minutes for England before being replaced by Will Lankshear and will now return to Middlewood Road for the Championship run-in.

Elsewhere, Di’Shon Bernard helped Jamaica to a third-place finish in the CONCACAF Nations League.

The Owls defender played his part in a 1-0 win for the Reggae Boyz to claim a bronze medal at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Dexter Lembikisa, a defender on loan at Hearts from Premier League side Wolves, scored a stunning goal in the first half to win the consolation play-off fixture.

Wednesday loanee Iké Ugbo played 70 minutes for Canada in their 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago.

The victory in Frisco, Texas secures a spot for the Canucks in this year’s Copa America.

Ugbo assisted Canada’s all-time top scorer Cyle Larin to break the deadlock an hour into the contest.

The Owls striker was replaced in the 70th by Jacob Shaffelburg, who went on to score in the 91st minute to make sure of the victory.

Meanwhile, Joey Phuthi was an unused substitute as Zimbabwe defeated Zambia on penalties after the game had finished 2-2 in the Bingu National Stadium, Malawi.
