First we take the point

29 March 2024

After the Owls were pegged back by Swansea - Jamal Lowe cancelling out Bailey Cadamarteri’s opener - Danny Röhl insisted everyone in the S6 camp must look at the positives.

Wednesday did everything but score a decisive second goal but in the final analysis did claw points back on rivals at the foot of the division.

Röhl said: “At first we must take the point. We wanted the win, of course we did, and we created chances, the players gave absolutely everything.

“A second goal would have been so important and we came so close, we hit the crossbar, we had other chances, we might have had a penalty…but these are not excuses, so we put this game away and move on to Middlesbrough on Monday.

“There was so much positive energy in the stadium today and I know together we can do this, we can get over the line.”

Wednesday had to rejig ahead of kick-off when Di’Shon Bernard pulled out in the warm-up but Röhl praised his replacement Bambo Diaby, who provided the assist for Cadamarteri.

He said: “Di’Shon felt something while warming up. It has been a long 14 days for him with all the travel and the games so this is something we must manage.

“We had Bambo to come in and he did really well. He has not had a lot of minutes recently and he played a good performance.

“It was good for Barry to get 20 minutes, we have other players to come back like Josh and Ian, and we have to also manage these situations because they are big players.”
