Match Pack: Middlesbrough v Wednesday

31 March 2024

Middlesbrough v Wednesday
Monday 1 April
3:00pm
Championship
Riverside Stadium

THE MATCH

The Easter calendar continues in the Championship as the Owls travel to Teesside on Bank Holiday Monday.

Both teams posted points on Good Friday with 1-1 draws – Wednesday at home to Swansea, while Boro plundered a late equaliser at Southampton.

Impressive as that point was, it remains a mountainous task for Michael Carrick’s side to break into the play-off pack, currently nine shy.

Wednesday made ground on a clutch of relegation rivals on Friday and could move out of the bottom three for the first time since the start of the season.

TICKETS

Wednesday will be backed by over 2,000 fans at the Riverside. Our allocation is completely sold out and supporters should not travel to Teesside unless in possession of a valid matchday ticket.

TEAM NEWS

Wednesday: With the swift turnaround of games over Easter, Danny Röhl considers his options over the weekend.

The Owls suffered no fresh injury concerns during the Swansea stalemate but lost Di’Shon Bernard to a muscle strain in the warm-ups. The Jamaican international will be assessed ahead of the Boro clash.

Skipper Barry Bannan made an impressive cameo appearance and could be back in contention for a starting shirt.

Middlesbrough: Boro continue to combat an injury list that Carrick has described as “incredible” over the course of the campaign.

Riley McRee and Marcus Forss have been ruled out for the rest of the season, while Paddy McNair is out for “a few weeks” after picking up a hamstring injury on international duty for Northern Ireland.
