The Owls community came together on Sunday night for a special charity event in support of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Barry Bannan – an ambassador of the Sheffield Children’s Hospital – along with several of his teammates and manager Danny Röhl attended the event at Mercure Hotel on Sunday evening.
Host on the night Steve Bracknall, Jon McClure of Reverend and The Makers, Sheffield artist Pete McKee and former Owls captain Lee Bullen were special guests as the room managed to raise an incredible total, topping £40,000.
Ahead of our home clash with Plymouth on Tuesday night, Bannan begins his match programme notes by reflecting on the event which has left him ‘buzzing’.
He writes; “It was amazing, when you set these things up you don’t know what to expect.
“It’s the first time I’ve done it so it was a case of see how it goes and it couldn’t have gone any better. I think we raised over £40,000 for the Children’s Hospital which is great. I woke up this morning buzzing.
“The rewards you get for the children in the hospital are massive and it just shows what happens when you come together as a club, it’s so powerful.
“I want to say a huge thank you to my teammates and the manager for coming along, they made it really special and it shows our togetherness.
“Being an ambassador of the Children’s Hospital is something I have looked at for years, I spoke to Will about his work with Bluebell Wood, so I delved into the charity side of things with him and got his knowledge. I’m also really friendly with Shay O’Grady, my little mate who has done loads for Blubell Wood too.
“The vibe in the room was brilliant and the recent results added to it all. I was praying for a win on Saturday to make the night even better! There is a good feel around the club and when the manager came in the room, the roof nearly blew off.
“A big thank you to everyone who helped make it possible.”
