George Byers joined Wednesday on a permanent deal from Swansea in the summer of 2021.
The midfielder played over 50 games for the Swans after joining the Welsh side from Watford in 2016.
Byers enjoyed a short term loan spell with Portsmouth in 2020/21, narrowly missing out on the League One play-offs with Pompey.
