Better and better

20 December 2016

Neil Thompson has charged his players the task of getting better and better through the second half of the season.

Monday’s 2-0 win at Birmingham pushed the Under-23s up to second place as George Hirst fired a brace in the Midlands.

With the campaign at its halfway stage, coach Thompson has stressed the need for his players to keep their feet on the gas:

“That’s the challenge now, the lads need to kick on for the second half of the season.

“At Birmingham, I thought it was our best performance of the season so far, we were impressive all over the pitch.

“We controlled the game and allowed them very little. We were creative and thoroughly deserved the win.

He added: “Now we have to kick on. There are plenty of tests ahead, we’ll be taking some of the Under-18 lads into the squad and some of the 23s may have the chance to go out on loan.

“So they need to do more of what they have been doing and get better and better as the season goes on.”
