Members of the media have once again showed their kind-hearted support for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

Ahead of every game here at Hillsborough, journalists utilising the hospitality facilities in the Media Suite are asked to make a voluntary contribution of £1, which goes directly to Bluebell Wood – the official charity partner of the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme.

And this time round, the year of 2016 saw a grand total raised of £576.50, which represents the highest figure yet since the initiative began.

Owls star Fernando Forestieri and junior fundraiser for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital, seven-year-old Olly, presented the giant cheque to Bluebell Wood ambassador Ann Evans prior to last weekend’s clash with Ipswich.

Spencer Taylor, CSR Manager of the SWFCCP, said: “Bluebell Wood are very close to our hearts and we all take a huge amount of pride in raising both funds and awareness for this amazing charity.

“On behalf of the Community Programme, I would like to thank the generosity of the journalists for taking part in this fantastic initiative.”

Gail Parkin, Community Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, added: “We are delighted that the journalists have once again chosen Bluebell Wood to receive the media collection, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all of them and Sheffield Wednesday for their ongoing support.

“We really appreciate all the opportunities offered to us by the club and the Community Programme in order to raise awareness of Bluebell Wood and the work we do.”
