Hull hit Owls run

14 November 2016

Hull ended the Under-18s’ impressive run of results with a 3-1 victory over Wednesday on Humberside.

Going into the game on the back of seven wins from nine, the Owls – without George Hirst (international duty) and Connor Kirby (suspended) - made all the early running but paid for a string of missed chances, a pattern that was followed after the break.

On a brighter note, Under-16 scholars Isaac Rice and Liam Waldock excelled throughout the contest, which began with the visitors creating no less than ten clear cut chances in the first half.

Wednesday, though, could not find a way through and that left the way clear for Hull to profit, with Max Sheaf finding the target.

It was a similar story after the break and once again the Owls were made to pay for their profligacy as the Tigers doubled their advantage through Keane Lewis-Potter.

But Danny Cadamarteri’s side continued to press forward and were finally rewarded when Jordan Lonchar halved the arrears with his 11th goal of the season.

More chances followed for the Owls but it proved one of those days in front of goal and Mason Wilson-Rhiney hit a third goal in the closing stages to make the points safe.
