Permission to fly

14 January 2017

Carlos Carvalhal gave high praise to Ross Wallace following the Scot’s maiden strike of the season to set Wednesday en route victory against Huddersfield.

Wallace unleashed a bullet shot from 25 yards that flew into the top corner and a late strike from Fernando Forestieri sealed the points.

Carvalhal said: “That was a typical Ross Wallace goal, it was the brand of Ross Wallace.

“He scored a very similar goal against Fulham last season and this is what he is capable of.

“I am very pleased for him because sometimes this season he has been asked to do specific duties for the team, sometimes that are more defensive to block the corridors.

“So maybe it looks like he hasn’t played so well sometimes but that has not been the case, this is because we have asked him to play a different role.

“Today, he played a more advanced role, he was given permission to fly and he went through the flight very well.”
