The hardest week

21 October 2016

Carlos Carvalhal says his players will need the fans every step of the way in what he calls the hardest week of the season.

Wednesday kicked off the week with a tough clash away at high-flyers Huddersfield before making the long trip to Cardiff in midweek.

With four points on the board from those back to back away fixtures, the Owls return to Hillsborough on Saturday to face QPR and Carlos said:

“Let’s see what we can achieve in this very hard week.

“This will be our hardest week in the season so far, absolutely sure. It will probably be our hardest week because it’s not just the question of playing a lot of games in a short time.

“It is the question also that we have played in difficult conditions so it makes it more difficult to us for sure.

“Between Sunday and Saturday, we will do three very hard games. Not just games, it’s three hard games.”

The head coach has underlined the influence Owls fans can have at Hillsborough on Saturday by pushing the players to their maximum.

Four points from the last two outings and a leap into the top six after 13 games represents a strong week for the club and Carlos believes the fans can give that extra ounce of energy to his players.

He continued: “After the game in Cardiff, I appealed to our fans to understand the situation and to push our players to the maximum.

“It’s the final game in the week and we need their extra energy. Our players need extra energy from the fans and I am absolutely sure this will happen.

“In the short time our players have had to recover, they will be better for sure if they feel the fans’ energy.”
