What a feeling!

The victory over QPR on Saturday held plenty of significance for Cameron Dawson.

The young Owl joined the club’s academy at the age of 15 and has successfully worked his way up the ranks.

Dawson has bided his time and been out on loan on three occasions before completing a long-held ambition to make his senior bow for Wednesday.

Having ticked that off earlier this month in the 2-1 defeat to Brighton and then again in the 1-1 draw with Cardiff – both times from the bench – the Wednesdayite went one better on Saturday.

Dawson marked his first senior start for the Owls by posting a clean sheet and playing his part in a well-deserved 1-0 triumph over Queens Park Rangers.

After the game, he posted on Twitter:

Fellow academy graduate Liam Palmer said:

The 21-year-old penned his professional contract in 2013 and subsequently enjoyed quality loan spells at Plymouth Argyle and Alferton Town.

In August this year, a week-long emergency loan to Wycombe saw Dawson make two appearances for the Chairboys.

Since his return to S6, the shot-stopper has impressed with assuring performances for the Under-23s, rising to the first team bench deputising for Westwood.
