The figures and accompanying report reflect the Owls’ first full season under the leadership of chairman Milan Mandaric.

A comprehensive financial review, covering the previous five years, has been produced within the report to give supporters a greater understanding of the business.

Headlines of the 2012 accounts include:

• Turnover increased by £1.5m to £10.9m (2011: £9.4m)

• Gate receipts and other football income increased by 30% to £6m (2011: £4.6m)

• The operating loss which included significant promotion related payments has been reduced from 73% of turnover in 2011 to 45% of turnover in 2012

• Commercial matchday income increased by 25% to £1.5m (2011: £1.2m)

Mandaric said: “The memories of promotion will stay with me forever and rank as one of happiest days in football.

“My gratitude goes to all of the squad, football management and backroom staff for playing their part in a successful and exciting season.

“I would like to thank my senior management team and all of our dedicated staff who, with their unshakable belief that success was attainable, worked tirelessly to play their part in helping to steer the club back to the Championship.

“Finally, may I thank most sincerely our remarkable supporters. This club has subjected them to a rollercoaster ride during the past decade, I am sure their patience has been tested to the limit during the all too frequent low points, but as I have learned so quickly, the Yorkshire family spirit will always ensure we stick together through both the good and bad times.”
