Carlos plots Owls cup run

7 January 2016

Wednesday’s focus is back on cup competition this weekend as Fulham return to Hillsborough in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The Owls have a busy schedule of fixtures, with three at home in the space of a week and Carlos Carvalhal has hinted there may be changes on Saturday.

He told swfc.co.uk: “There are players that recover very well and there are players that don’t recover so well.

“Each player is different, you have to remember this. Some are more resilient, have more speed, recover better, recover worse and this you must understand.

“I must act with this information.

“There is not a formula. It just depends on the players and their capacity to play.”

Having come away from Craven Cottage last weekend with three points, Carlos’ side will battle again with the Cottagers for a place in the fourth round.

Having enjoyed some terrific encounters in the League Cup earlier in the campaign, Carvalhal is keen to replicate that in the FA Cup and continued:

“We will put the best players we have available to win the game on Saturday. After, we will do the same on Tuesday and then the same on Saturday.

“If there is a player on the bench or outside the 18, maybe it’s because the coach thinks that is best for the team because I want to put out the best team to play.”
