Gray backs Owls ace to produce the goods

19 December 2014

Owls striker Stevie May endured a frustrating afternoon last time out in the home defeat to Wolves.

The Scotland international was a handful for the duration of the game and created a host of chances that agonisingly failed to register.

But Stuart Gray believes that May will bounce back from that disappointment, and said:

“Your forwards have to put it behind them because sometimes will have days like that.

“I’d be more concerned and worried if we weren’t creating chances and if Stevie wasn’t creating chances.

“We’ve sat down and had a look back at the game but the most important thing now is Saturday at 3.00pm.”

A trip to Fulham awaits this weekend and Wednesday will head to the capital with confidence, as the Owls boast once of the best away records in the division.

And Gray is hoping that his side can put right the wrongs from the Hillsborough reverse and ripple the net at Craven Cottage.

He added: “We totally dominated the game but I’ve always said the hardest part in football is sticking the ball in the back of the net.

“I’ve got full confidence in Stevie and this squad, we’re creating, he’s creating his own chances, he plays at a high intensity and keeps defenders on their toes.

“Hopefully if one chance falls his way on Saturday, we will see him stick it away.”
