NCS graduates complete Hillsborough challenge

17 March 2015

Graduates of the National Citizen Service have taken part in a unique fundraiser event that saw them sit on every seat in the Kop in just over an hour!

Participants from the National Citizen Service (NCS), facilitated by the Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme, and members from the Community Programme’s youth board, last week took part in the special fundraiser in aid of national charity - Comic Relief.

The day saw the young people sit on every seat in the Kop end of the stadium, that’s 11,210 seats, in just 1 hour 57 seconds - all with wearing a red nose and their NCS hoody!

Lucy Shuttleworth said: “It’s fantastic to see the graduates of the NCS continuing to participate in social action in Sheffield, even after finishing the programme. It’s been a privilege to see the development of the youth board and the inspiration that the NCS provides”

NCS, a government funded youth programme, is designed to bring together young people from diverse backgrounds to teach team work and communication skills within their local community.

If you are interested in taking part in this summer’s NCS programme please contact Lucy Shuttleworth by e-mail lucy.shuttleworth@swfc.co.uk or call the community office on 0114 3240523
