Owls relishing Royals trip

30 January 2015

  • Full focus on Reading clash
  • Owls aiming to build on strong away form
  • Head coach looking for consistency

Amidst the hive of activity at Hillsborough after news of the club’s takeover on Thursday, Stuart Gray is keen to ensure the week ends on a high with victory at Reading.

Wednesday travel to The Madejski on Saturday to face the Royals and are out to build on their impressive away form in the Championship.

Ahead of the trip, the Owls head coach says his main focus is preparing the team for the league clash.

“It’s been a difficult week training-wise with the weather and snow affecting the pitches but we’re looking forward to this game,” he said.

“Whenever we have played Reading in the past, they have been exciting and open games. We picked up a great win there last season and defeated them at Hillsborough earlier this season.

“We don’t fear anybody on our travels. We will take a lot of confidence going to Reading because our away form has been excellent this season.”

The gap now stands at nine points to the top six following Wednesday’s midweek draw with Birmingham.

But Gray believes Saturday’s clash with Reading will present a good chance for the Owls to make up ground, and he added:

“There are enough points this season still to play for and that’s what I am telling my players.

“If a team in this division can find a level of consistency for the remaining 19 games, then who knows where they can go.

“That’s what we are looking for, to be consistent and post points in threes as we enter the business end of the season.”
