Sheffield charity host dog show at Owls in the Park

7 July 2015

Sheffield based assistance dog charity Support Dogs are set to impress at this year’s Owls in the Park with South Yorkshire’s biggest dog show.

For the third year running, Support Dogs will be running their dedicated dog show, ‘Bark in the Park’, at the club’s annual family fun day Owls in the Park which takes place at Hillsborough Park on Sunday 19 July, 11:00am – 5:30pm.

Danny Anderson, Fundraising Manager for Support Dogs said: “Sheffield is a city of dog lovers and this annual event has fast become the city’s biggest dog show, with more than 15,000 people attending throughout the day.

“Over the past two years it has raised more than £5000 for our charity. This has made a real difference to our work training specialist assistance dogs for children and adults affected by autism, epilepsy and disability.”

The ‘Bark in the Park’ area will have demonstrations from support dogs, local gun dog groups and obedience and agility groups. The public are encouraged to bring their own pet dogs with interactive games for them to enjoy as well as a dog show to enter.

The show will have seven categories that members of the public can enter their pet dog in including: Best Biscuit Catcher, Cutest Pup, Most Radiant Rescue Dog and Most Gorgeous Golden Oldie.

Danny added: “We’re delighted that Sheffield Wednesday support us each year by allowing us to be part of the event. We hope that Sheffield’s dog lovers come join us at this fabulous event and help us to raise vital funds for our charity”
