Under-18s edge derby clash

3 March 2015

The Owls Under-18s emerged victorious against Barnsley on Tuesday afternoon at Middlewood Road.

A Glenn Law penalty and a late Josh Murray header sealed the win after Wednesday fell a goal behind on three minutes.

Warren Clarke almost levelled for the Owls midway through the first half but blasted over the crossbar.

With time running out in the opening period, Matt Penney was fouled in the area and Law stepped up to convert from 12 yards.

Wednesday began the second half the brighter of the two sides and went on to dominate before snatching a late winner ten minutes from time.

Jack Stobbs' superb corner was met by a thumping header from Murray to win three points for Wednesday.

The Under-18s face Sheffield United at Middlewood Road on Saturday (11.00am) and supporters are welcome to attend the fixture free of charge.

Owls: McDonagh, Brown, Stachini, Law, Murray, Beatson, Stobbs (Duffy 86), Clarke, Nuttall (Tracey 71), Nicholson (Ellam 90), Penney
