Under-21s: Owls 1-2 Hull

27 November 2015

The Owls Under-21s were defeated 2-1 by Hull City at Middlewood Road on Friday afternoon.

Wednesday took the lead through Leicester loanee Keenan King before the break but the visitors hit back in the second half with a Greg Luer brace to seal the win.

The home side started brightly and almost edged in front when Luke Booker and Ryan Croasdale combined well before the latter fired just over from 25 yards.

The Owls took the lead on four minutes when King finished from 12 yards after good initial work from Darryl Lachman.

There was plenty of incident in the opening stages of the second period as Ryan Meadows went close with a header before Hull spurned a golden chance to equalise from the penalty spot.

Luer’s spot kick thumped against the crossbar but the Tigers were soon level.

Just before the hour, Luer made amends for his penalty miss and converted Jarrod Bowen’s low cross from close range.

Moments later, Hull went ahead in the contest through Luer, who was on target once again with a neat finish into the bottom corner.

With six minutes left on the clock, Will De Havilland headed just wide but ultimately, the Owls were left frustrated as Hull claimed all three points.

Owls: Price, Booker, Wildin, Lachman, De Havilland, Anderson (Beatson 63), Stobbs, Croasdale, King (Clarke 82), Marsh (Penney 70), Meadows
