Exciting times

25 August 2012

Owls boss Dave Jones hailed the exciting times at Hillsborough following the dramatic 3-2 win over Millwall on Saturday.

A Miguel Llera double and Jermaine Johnson’s opener did the damage as Wednesday came from behind to post another three points in S6 following Tuesday’s success against Birmingham.

And Jones said: “These are exciting times and I am so pleased for the fans because they are pleased at what’s happening at their club.

“They’ve had a lot of pain and a lot of hurt so they deserve the good times when they arrive.

“There are going to be rollercoaster games and this was another one. I don’t have the players to sit back and that is not my philosophy anyway.

“If we just have to score more goals than the opposition then that’s what we will do.”

Jones was pleased with the second half recovery after his side went into half time trailing 2-1.

And when Llera struck at the last to seal the points, the manager said it was nothing more than Wednesday deserved.

He added: “We were the better side throughout and deserved that win.

“Millwall are a good side and we have done well to beat them.

“I said to the players at half time, ‘keep calm, don’t panic’ and they responded.

“They kept passing, they kept probing and they got their reward.

“Miguel did really well to get his two goals and I thought Chris O’Grady tipped the game in our favour when he came on.

“He put himself about and he rattled them.

“Michail Antonio had his best game, certainly in the second half, since he came back to the club and overall, I’m pleased because they battled to the end.

“Believe me, there is nothing better in football than a last minute winner – especially in a place like Hillsborough, which was absolutely rocking.”
