Ready and prepared

17 October 2012

Owls skipper Martin Taylor has told swfc.co.uk that the game against Leeds on Friday can’t come soon enough.

The Wednesday captain is anticipating an intense clash with Yorkshire rivals Leeds but insists the Owls are ready and prepared.

“At this level, you don’t really get many bigger games than this,” Taylor said. “We’re all going into the game full of anticipation and full of excitement.

“We’ve been able to regroup and get some good hours in on the training pitch which you sometimes miss when you have got a lot of games.

“This game is a good one for us, the stadium will be packed, it’s a derby and everyone going out on the pitch will know how big it is.”

Despite the current run the Owls find themselves on, Taylor has taken confidence from a number of positives in recent weeks and believes Friday’s derby in S6 presents the ideal opportunity to post an overdue three points on the board.

And for that to happen, the former Birmingham defender has called upon the bumper crowd expected for the game to get right behind the lads and play their part.

“I’ve no doubt that the fans will cheers us on and get right behind us and that’s really important.

“Their support keeps us going and this would be the ideal game to get back on track against local rivals, if you like.

“Results haven’t been going for us but it has been fine lines, as it often is in this division. We’ve been on the wrong end of some marginal defeats but it’s something we have got to turn around.

“We haven’t been outplayed by any means and we know we can challenge at this level.”
