Going for goals

4 September 2012

Jay Bothroyd is aiming to make the most of his loan stint with the Owls and has told swfc.co.uk of his desire to get back amongst the goals.

The former Cardiff striker has proved a handful in the Championship throughout his career and the 30-year-old is keen to rediscover that kind of form at Hillsborough.

Prior to his season in the Premier League with QPR last time out, Bothroyd scored 20 goals in the Championship for Cardiff under Dave Jones, and the striker is pleased to back working alongside the Owls boss.

He told Wednesday Player: “I think it’s going to be an excellent experience, I’m back working with Dave Jones and I’m really looking forward to it.

“It’s going to be a good test but I want to play football again and get back to scoring goals.

“I regularly speak to the gaffer anyway and now I’m here on loan and I want to enjoy it.”

Bothroyd will of course have to wait for his Wednesday debut with the next test being Brighton away after the upcoming international break.

“We don't have a game this weekend because of the international break but I can’t wait to get going,” he said.

“The team have been on a great run, there is a good bunch of lads here and hopefully we can get to back to winning games and go on another long unbeaten run.

“I’m excited to play, I love my football, I watch it all the time and whenever it’s on I’m there in front of a TV watching it. I’m just desperate to play.”
