Dave Jones says the Owls must start to convert their away form into that at home in order to climb the Championship table.

Wednesday face Wolves at Hillsborough on Saturday needing a win to move within one point of Wanderers and into the pack of a clutch of clubs.

And to do so, Jones’ men need to up the ante on home soil, where they have lost eight games this season thus far.

He said: “That’s exactly what we have to do. We’ve had some really good results recently away from home – we beat Bolton, drew at Huddersfield in a game we should have won, then we beat Hull last weekend with one of our best performances of the season.

“So there are no problems on that front, now we have to start bringing that kind of form to Hillsborough.

“The players are confident, there is a great feeling around the place and we know what we have to do.”

Jones will welcome his former employers to S6 and has nothing but kind words for the Midlands side, whom he successfully managed between 2001 and 2004.

He added: “I have some great memories of time at Wolves, it’s a fantastic football club with some really nice people who I know from my time there.

“It will be nice to see them. But my priority is Sheffield Wednesday and we want the points.

“Wolves have a new manager, they have the players who can hurt you and we have identified their dangermen and what they can do.

“But we have players that can hurt the opposition as well.”
